# US House Votes to Cut NEA Funding 6%

Today, according to the [Americans for the Arts](http://www.artsusa.org/?ref=hyperallergic.com), the US House of Representatives passed the final budget agreement for 2012, which cuts funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) by 6%. The NEA’s 2011 budget was $155 million and next year’s funding will be $146.255 million.

Other arts-related funding are also poised be be cut in this budget, including the National Endowment for the Humanities, which will experience an identical reduction in 2012 (FY 2011 budget $155 million versus $146.255 million in FY 2012), the [Office of Museum Services](http://www.artsusa.org/get%5Finvolved/advocacy/aad/issue%5Fbriefs/2009/advocacy%5Fissuebrief%5F004.asp?ref=hyperallergic.com) received a 4% cut to $30.918 million in 2012 and the US Department of Education’s [Art in Education](http://www2.ed.gov/programs/artsed/index.html?ref=hyperallergic.com) budget was reduced 3.5% to $30.918 million. Only the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which is a private nonprofit organization that stewards the US federal governments funding best know for its support of PBS, had a budget increase. CPB’s 2012 budget will be 3.5% more than the previous year and it will total $445 million.
