# VCFA’s Lorena Howard-Sheridan Featured in Annual Abierto Mexicano de Diseño Festival

Vermont College of Fine Arts faculty member, Lorena Howard-Sheridan, had five of her [publications](http://bit.ly/2ip3ejX?ref=hyperallergic.com) recently featured at the [Albierto Mexicano de Diseño](http://bit.ly/2nhNSzs?ref=hyperallergic.com), an annual design festival held in Mexico. The books will become part of a collection of publishing design at the library/mediateca at Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión, where Lorena also teaches.

Lorena is one of a distinguished team of professional designers who teach at [VCFA](http://bit.ly/2zC7WOq?ref=hyperallergic.com) in the [MFA in Graphic Design](http://bit.ly/2k8EQU2?ref=hyperallergic.com) program. Drawn to teach at VCFA, she sees a unique value for students in this model VCFA offers practical training in the kind of distance collaboration that characterizes the contemporary field of design, allowing her and others to closely mentor students in professional practice.

The field of graphic design is rapidly expanding. Vermont College of Fine Arts offers a low-residency [MFA in Graphic Design](http://bit.ly/2k8EQU2?ref=hyperallergic.com) that mirrors trending models of practice. VCFA’s NASAD accredited, two and three year master’s programs are delivered in a unique format that’s ideal for a wide range of design practitioners who otherwise may not be able to put their lives on hold for an advanced degree program of study. Graphic Design education that is delivered in a low-residency context is of-the-moment learning, where critical practice and global connectedness collide.
