Join the **Vera List Center for Arts and Politics** at **The New School** – the only organization focused exclusively on advancing research, scholarship and public discourse on contemporary issues at the intersection of art and politics –in celebrating its 25th anniversary at the [**Vera List Center Prize Conference 2016-18**](http://bit.ly/2zA82G3?ref=hyperallergic.com)on **November 3-4\.** The conference looks at the urgent and necessary work of Prize-winning Brazilian artist **Maria Thereza Alves**, as well as that of the five Prize finalists: **Forensic Architecture**, **Gulf Labor**, **House of Natural Fibers (HONF)**, **Isuma TV** and **MadeYouLook**.

Centered on Alves’ exemplary Prize-winning project **Seeds of Change** and the practices of the finalists, the conference will assemble artists, cultural leaders, scholars, curators and policy makers who will explore the field of **art and social justice** over two days of vigorous conversations and lively events (Friday, Nov. 3, 12-4:30pm; Saturday, Nov. 4, 12-5:30pm). Friday, Nov. 3 will culminate in a keynote and presentation of the Prize to Alves (6-6:45pm), followed by the opening of her exhibition ***Maria Thereza Alves, Seeds of Change: New York—A Botany of Colonization*** (6:45-8pm).

All events are **free and open to the public**.

**Exhibition**

Johnson Design Center, Parsons School of Design from November 3-27\. The prize exhibition is organized by director and chief curator Carin Kuoni and curator Amanda Parmer, and is made possible by the Prize Founding Supporters: James Keith (JK) Brown and Eric Diefenbach, Elizabeth R. Hilpman and Byron Tucker, Jane Lombard, Joshua Mack, and The New School.
