# Wrapping Up 2011

In the next few weeks we’ll be posting our end-of-year reflections but we just wanted to take some time out and thank you, our readers, for helping us make this year our best yet.

In October 2011, we quietly turned two and throughout the year our coverage of museum censorship, the [Egyptian revolution](http://hyperallergic.com/tag/egyptian-revolution/), [Ai Weiwei’s arrest](http://hyperallergic.com/tag/ai-weiwei/) and the [Occupy Wall Street movement](http://hyperallergic.com/tag/occupy-wall-street/) demonstrated how an indie art site like us could quickly become a must-read source for art-related opinions, reviews, images, news and links.

This year, our stories, posts and staff have been featured on major media outlets around the world, including television stations like Al Jazeera, radio like WNYC, newspapers like *New York Times*, *Washington Post*, *Los Angeles Times,* the *Guardian*, *The Art Newspaper*, Poland’s *Onet Wiadomości*, Hungary’s *Origo* and Israel’s Ynet.co.il, magazines and journals like *The Nation*, *Art News*, Italy’s *Internazionale*, *The Brooklyn Rail*, and not to mention websites — which are our favorite, if you haven’t guessed — like Boing Boing, Kottke, Andrew Sullivan, Felix Salmon, CNN.com, Huffington Post, Memeorandum, Gothamist, Gawker, Kotaku, FoxNews.com, NBCSports.com, PSFK, Brooklyn365 and The Stranger’s Slog.

Of course, we’re very thankful to our fellow online art sites, like Colossal, Art Fag City, Artinfo, C-Monster, Two Coats of Paint, Vandalog, Painter’s Table, Modern Art Notes, Museum Nerd, Greg.org, Gallerist NY, 16miles, Streetsy, Fine Art Views and many others for their links and for including us in online conversations.

We are extra proud that this month we won our biggest accolade yet, an international award for “[Best Art Blog](https://hyperallergic.com/hyperallergic-wins-art-reality-best-art-blog-prize/)” at the “Art and Reality” art criticism conference in St. Petersburg, Russia (we’ll have a full post on that later this week).

Throughout 2011 we toured the world to seek out thought-provoking art, design, architecture, culture and news. In the next few weeks we’ll share some more stories from those travels, as well as some “best of” lists and, of course, new and interesting things from New York and beyond.

Finally, this coming weekend (Dec. 15–17), we’ll be liveblogging from the bodacious [Brooklyn Night Bazaar](http://bkbazaar.com/?ref=hyperallergic.com) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, so stop by and say hi. It’s always great to meet IRL people we otherwise only know through the warm glow of a computer screen.
