Sharon Core does not simply make photographs of still lifes that exactly re-create paintings, she creates the still lifes — literally.

Donna Stonecipher is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Model City (2015). She has written several essays on artists including Christine Hill and Maria and Natalia Petschatnikov. Her collaborative artwork with Paul Druecke was featured in the 2014 Whitney Biennial. She lives in Berlin.

I had just finished reading The House of the Seven Gables when I encountered Berlin-based American artist Christine Hill’s artist-shop “Small Business,” the current iteration of her ongoing project Volksboutique, which has taken the form of a number of shops, “organizational ventures,” and interventions with commerce since 1993.
