Residencies, Workshops, & Fellowships


2027 Erie Canal Artists in Residence — Erie Canal Museum & New York State Canal Corporation
Seeking projects that reflect on the Erie Canal’s past, contemplate its present, and consider its future. All visual mediums welcome. Local and Indigenous artists preferred. Two selected artists will each receive a $10,000 stipend.

Jentel Artist Residency — Winter/Spring 2027 Residencies
Jentel Artist Residency offers 3-week residencies in the foothills of Wyoming’s Bighorn Mountains, which include a $300 stipend, a private bedroom, shared living spaces, and a separate studio. The application fee is $30. Read more on hyperallergic.com.

Two Artist Fellowships - Hodder & PAF — Princeton University, Lewis Center for the Arts
Princeton Arts Fellowships - 2 years, teaching required, open to dance, music, theater artists. Hodder Fellowships - 1 year, no teaching, open to dance, music, theater, and visual artists.

Open Calls for Art & Writing


Art at a Time Like This — Take One Action
Open call for brave poitical images and ideas of civic actions to save democracy.  Selected artists will join a public art campaign this fall and/or be featured in an online exhibition. Honorarium up to $1,000.

Culture Forward — The Svane Family Foundation
A three-year, $5M initiative supporting arts and culture projects that draw audiences to Downtown San Francisco. Open to local and national artists and organizations. Experimentation is welcome.

Grants & Awards


The Bennett Prize – 2026/2027 Award Cycle
For women figurative realist painters. The grand prize winner receives $75,000 and a solo exhibition. The first runner-up receives $10,000. A five-person jury will select 10 finalists to be featured in a group exhibition that will travel the US. The application fee is $50. Read more on Hyperallergic.

2026 Foundwork Artist Prize — Foundwork
The honoree will receive a $10,000 grant and studio visits with jurors Stefan Benchoam, François Ghebaly, Manuela Moscoso, Gabi Ngcobo, Esther Schipper. Three shortlisted artists will receive $1,000 grants.

Prize for Contemporary Southern Art — The Gibbes Museum and Society 1858
Awarded to an artist whose work contributes to a new understanding of art in the South. The winner will receive a $10,000 unrestricted prize, an artwork exhibited at the museum for one year, and a three-day series of events honoring the artist in Charleston.
