Lilada Gee was verbally attacked by a former employee of an adjoining arts center and her work in the 2022 Wisconsin Triennial was damaged by visitors.

The artists accused the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, which organizes the triennial, of “shameful mistreatment of the Black artists, contractors, and staffers throughout the exhibition.”
