Independent Artists Take Control of Their Destiny at the Clio Art Fair

Understanding the need for independent artists to promote themselves, Clio Art Fair provides artists without gallery representation access to the New York curatorial and art market scenes.

Clio Art Fair, in its five year existence, is earnestly working to carry out its mission of empowering independent artists, allowing them to make their voices heard, and helping them become aware of their own creative and commercial potential.

Clio Art Fair was born with the ambition of offering professional international group shows twice a year,  primarily for artists who do not have representation with a New York gallery.

One of the distinguishing features of these events are the organizational services Clio Art Fair offers to each participant, including:

  • Free storage in New York in the weeks before and after the fair
  • Expert art handlers to install art works
  • Professional art dealers to promote and facilitate sales during the fair

The art fair project, which began in 2014 on the fifth floor of the Wolf Building in Chelsea, has outgrown its original location and has moved to a street level loft space in midtown Manhattan. The move has helped build momentum from previous editions, create greater exposure for exhibiting artists, and attract more visitors and greater potential sales. To learn more about the fair, listen to what Clio artists have to say about their experiences.

For the upcoming edition in March 2019, the Fair’s curatorial board is preparing a special section dedicated to the figure of the clandestine and the refugee, as well as contemplating the physical and mental boundaries that condition the geopolitics of our world.

Clio Art Fair is currently accepting applications for the next event to be held in Manhattan from  March, 7–10, 2019.

Independent artists who want a chance to challenge themselves within the New York curatorial and art market, and to promote themselves to a wider audience are encouraged to apply.
