This year’s On Stage series at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago focuses on the frictions that exist in a society shaped by race — and the transformative power of productive resistance.

Opening April 6, On Stage: Frictions presents performances by three artists — Will Rawls, Shamel Pitts | TRIBE, and Barak adé Soleil — who aim to defy and explore conventional notions of Blackness, queerness, movement, and dance. Their works engage themes of queer intimacy; disabled bodies in motion and at rest; and the relationship between animation, race, and history.
