The San Francisco Art Book Fair (SFABF) announces its seventh annual multi-day showcase of printed material from independent publishers, artists, designers, collectors, and enthusiasts from around the world at Minnesota Street Project. Open July 19 through 21, with a preview on Thursday, July 18, from 6 to 10pm, SFABF is free and open to the public.

SFABF places the unique Bay Area history and perspectives in conversation with national and international publishing communities. The fair features artists’ books, art catalogues, monographs, periodicals, zines, printed ephemera, and artists’ multiples presented by 145 publishers, antiquarian dealers, artists, and galleries from the Bay Area and beyond.

In addition to the 85 exhibitors at 1275 Minnesota Street, 45 publishers dedicated to accessible and inventive forms of bookmaking and publishing will set up at 1150 25th Street, Building B, Suite B, and drop-in programming with a rotation of guest artists will take place at 1201 Minnesota Street. Throughout the weekend, SFABF will feature talks, discussions, book launches, special projects, and signings curated by David Senior, Chief of Library and Archives at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA). Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle a.ka. Olomidara Yaya will perform a live reading from The Evanesced [Tarot Deck + Guidebook], a new book inspired by Hinkle/Yaya’s The Evanesced Series, presented by KACH Studio Press and Sming Sming Books. SFABF will also offer fundraising editions, including a limited-edition lenticular print by Heesoo Kwon, produced by Lightsource SF, and a Risograph print by Craig Calderwood. 

Presented by Minnesota Street Project Foundation, SFABF’s mission is to help sustain the creation and distribution of printed material through support of the independent publishing community from the Bay Area and beyond, and to expand our reach to new audiences.
