An Adventure of Illustrated Urban Landscapes

GRRRR.net, by Ingo Giezendanner, is a mystifying and beautiful internet adventure to stumble upon. With seemingly endless compartments and levels to wander through, I spent nearly two hours exploring it recently.

GRRRR.net, by Ingo Giezendanner, is a mystifying and beautiful internet adventure to stumble upon. With seemingly endless compartments and levels to wander through, I spent nearly two hours exploring it recently. Giezendanner told me over email, “I want to tell stories … But not from A to Z, everyone is expected to take her/his own journey through my pile of videos, comics, maps or plain drawings.” When I asked him the meaning of the site, he responded sincerely, “Just listen to it … ”

Giezendanner’s drawings are from his explorations of urban landscapes around his hometown of Zurich and beyond. “I love to draw, to take journeys and discover our urban environments. GRRRR.net is where I publish these observations.” With some help on coding from Ale Rimoldi, Giezendanner created an interactive map to document these travels; so, while creating an entirely digital space of gifs, embedded movies and interactive content, GRRRR.net remains deeply rooted in the physical world.
