Through the program, selected artists and organizations will receive three-year leases on studio and office space in DUMBO, Brooklyn beginning January 1, 2018 at a reduced rate of $12/rsf per year — that means paying $1/foot per month.
Recognizing that market rents are not feasible for all, the Cultural Space Subsidy Program offered by Two Trees Management Co awards space at below market rent to applicants that best demonstrate their capabilities and intent to provide a social benefit to DUMBO and the broader Brooklyn community.
Through the program, artists and organizations accomplish projects unthinkable in their older studios due to space and financial constraints, giving them the chance to expand and deepen their practice. Past recipients include: Sharon Butler, Tom Fruin, Chitra Ganesh, Mary Mattingly, Meta Meta Meta LLC, Jeanine Oleson, Shelter Serra, and Artie Vierkant.
The program is open to professional artists with a strong exhibition history or community focused practice, as well as arts, education, and community focused groups — primarily, but not limited to, 501c3 nonprofit organizations.
Applications are due May 31, 2017 at 11:59pm EST.
