These three unique Moore College of Art & Design degrees fuse making, research, and action with the subject of place in contemporary art:

MFA in Community Practice
This program investigates the role of studio and community-based art practices taking place in a wide variety of local and global contexts. Students will come to understand the history and the social impact of working on participatory art projects within the context of public spaces and diverse communities.

MA in Social Engagement
This specialized program will prepare students to critically examine the effectiveness and impact of socially-engaged art practices and explore the ethics, authorship, and history of community-based art. Students will also explore the historical, theoretical, and cultural influences that inform social practice and engagement.

MFA in Studio Art
Emphasizing rigorous and immersive study in fine art studio practice, this program will challenge students to confront both practical and philosophical concerns facing artists today. Critical dialogue with faculty, visiting artists/critics, and students’ fellow candidates are key components within critiques, seminars, courses, and independent graduate tutorials.

Moore’s beautiful, intimate campus is located on museum mile in Philadelphia. The college has some of the most thoughtful and talented people in the city and nation on its faculty, and has created partnerships with both public art organizations in Philadelphia and artist residencies beyond the city limits.
