EFA Presents #callresponse, a Dialogue-Driven Exhibition Led by Indigenous Women
#callresponse is structured as a connective support system that strategically centers Indigenous women within discussion and action around Indigenous cultural revitalization, land-based knowledge, and cross-cultural solidarity building.
#callresponse is an artistic and curatorial collaboration led by Indigenous women, structured as a connective support system that moves between specificity of Indigenous nations, site, online space and the gallery.
This exhibition features commissioned artworks by five Indigenous North American women artists and their invited guest respondents. The pairings include Christi Belcourt and Isaac Murdoch of the Onaman Collective; Maria Hupfield, IV Castellanos and Esther Neff; Ursula Johnson and Cheryl L’Hirondelle; Tania Willard and Marcia Crosby; and Laakkuluk Williamson-Bathory and Tanya Tagaq, as well as local respondents Jennifer Kreisberg and Laura Ortman. A touring exhibition opened at Vancouver’s grunt gallery in 2016, and continues to engage each geographic location with specific programming.
