Living on Philadelphia's Avenue of the Arts will become a reality for dozens of artists as early as next year. The Village of Industry & Art (VIA) announced on August 12 that it will transform a former University of the Arts (UArts) dormitory into 45 affordable apartments.

The news comes after the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation awarded the VIA a $2.5 million grant for the building project and the establishment of on-site arts programming.
