Moore College of Art & Design at 20th Street and The Parkway in Philadelphia is dedicated to excellence in art and design, producing graduates that distinguish themselves as leaders in their fields. Graduate Studies at Moore’s Social and Studio Practices is unique in its fusion of making, research, and action concerning the subject of place in contemporary art. This program offers three graduate degrees: MA in Social Engagement, MFA in Community Practice, and MFA in Studio Art.
The MA in Social Engagement is a specialized program that prepares candidates to critically examine the effectiveness and impact of socially-engaged art practices and explore the ethics, authorship, and history of community-based art. The MFA in Community Practice critically investigates the role of studio and community-based art practices taking place in a wide variety of local and global contexts. The MFA in Studio Art’s low-residency program emphasizes rigorous and immersive study in fine art studio practice and challenges the artist to confront both practical and philosophical concerns facing artists today.
On Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 10am–12pm, Moore invites you to its campus for an Open House to learn more about these programs, as well as the MA in Art Education with an Emphasis in Special Populations; hear presentations by current candidates; and experience breakout sessions with Graduate Program Directors.
