Residencies, Workshops, & Fellowships
Haystack Mountain School of Crafts – Haystack at 75
Artists can apply for Open Studio Residency and all-levels workshops in blacksmithing, ceramics, fiber, glass, graphics, metals, wood, and writing in coastal Maine. Tuition, room and board, and shop fees vary. Fellowships are available.

John Michael Kohler Arts Center – Arts/Industry Residency
During this three-month residency, artists work in Kohler Co.’s pottery and foundry in Wisconsin with full studio access, free industrial materials, use of equipment, technical support, housing, round-trip transportation, and a monthly honorarium. Read more on Hyperallergic.

NXTHVN – Studio and Curatorial Fellowships
Up to seven early-career visual artists and two curators participate in a paid, 10-month intensive mentorship-driven residency in New Haven, Connecticut. Fellows are also matched with a high school apprentice for one-on-one mutual learning.

Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program
The Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program is currently accepting applications for its 2026–2027 residency period. The program awards studio space to 17 visual artists for year-long residencies in Brooklyn, New York.

Institute for Public Architecture – Independent Project Residency
This unique design-focused live-in residency is the only overnight arts program on Governors Island in New York City. Eleven-week sessions are available for emerging and mid-career practitioners across disciplines. The cost to attend ranges from $6,050 to $6,850.

Long Meadow Art Residency
This solo residency offers artists studio space and housing in the Berkshires for six weeks to three months. It includes a $3,000 monthly living stipend, a $2,500 supply budget, access to a vehicle for transportation, and more. The application fee is $35.

The Morgan Conservatory – Certificate in Professional Papermaking
This six-week intensive in Cleveland, Ohio, is for advanced papermakers interested in exploring Eastern and Western traditions, contemporary approaches, and collaborative work with a visiting artist. There is a workshop fee of $1,950 for expendable materials. Housing is provided.

Open Calls for Art & Writing
Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center – {Re}HAPPENING 14
For this annual event, inspired by John Cage’s “Theatre Piece No. 1” (1952), artists can propose projects that respond to Black Mountain College’s legacy by activating its historic campus in North Carolina with installations, new media, music, and performance work.

Flynn Breakthrough
US-based artists and organizations can submit proposals for daring new original performances in public spaces and non-conventional venues across Vermont. Selected projects receive $5,000–$25,000 in funding plus resources.

The Avery Review Essay Prize 2026
Students and recent graduates are invited to submit critical essays on architecture to the Avery Review. First place will receive $4,000 and three second-place prizes of $2,000 will also be awarded. The winners will be published in the journal’s June 2026 issue.

Ovissi Foundation – 2026 Awards for Artists of Iranian Heritage
Individuals and nonprofit organizations can apply for several grants that provide financial support: the Ovissi Artist Award, the Modern Craft - Ceramic Award, and the MFA Award. Open to Iranian heritage artists who are US citizens.

Walker Youngbird Foundation – Emerging Native Arts Grant
This twice-annual $15,000 grant provides funding, mentorship, and a curated showcase to early-career Native artists who are honoring tradition while boldly shaping the future of contemporary Indigenous art.

South Arts – Artist Creative Practice Grants
Artists in the Southeastern United States can apply for up to $3,000 in grant funding to support them as they pursue a variety of professional development opportunities that end on or before June 30, 2026.
