This afternoon, I received a press release from the Brooklyn Museum. This is the news: the Sackler family has endowed a new curatorial position at the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center, which the current curator of said Sackler Center will take. In other words, everything Sackler changes, and everything Sackler stays the same. And someone got a Sackler-funded raise (I hope).

The name of the position is the Sackler Family Curator. I’ve always found the naming of curatorial appointments an unyielding source of amusement, and this Sackler one really takes things to a new level. I expect that the Sackler-appointed individual in that role will be curating Sackler family members, starting in the womb, based on competitive qualities such as height, eye color, and the ability to dash off a formidable Sackler-centered pun.

In all seriousness, congratulations to Sackler Family Curator Catherine Morris, who, thanks to the continued support of the Sackler family, may continue to capably lead the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center.
