The billionaire businessman David H. Koch has left his position on the board of trustees of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) after serving on it for 23 years.
WASHINGTON, DC — Chanting “kick Koch off the board” and lifting signs with slogans like, “climate deniers out of science museums,” a crowd of protesters picketed in front of the Smithsonian Institution Building (The Castle) just after 12:30pm.
In an open letter posted today, 39 scientists call for natural history and science museums to sever connections with climate change deniers.
The enforcement of city and state law pertaining to graffiti, advertising, and other signage has enormous power to visually shape public space.
On Tuesday evening, at the end of an action staged by Occupy Museums at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to protest the unveiling of the David H. Koch Plaza, three members of The Illuminator were arrested.
A masked likeness of David H. Koch argued with protestors outside of The Metropolitan Museum of Art on Tuesday evening. It shouted: “Get away from me! I own you! I own this place! I own a great portion of the resources of the earth!”
The Metropolitan Museum’s new front plaza will be funded by David “Tea Party” Koch. Ummm…

Below is a brief round-up of OWS art related news for Occupy movements around the country and events happening in NYC to look out for.
A few paragraphs in the New Yorker story about the Tea Party-funding Koch brothers should scare the hell out of you and make you wonder if the Smithsonian has gone to far.
