The term Dansaekhwa, or “monochrome painting,” may elude readers unfamiliar with Korean, but it represents arguably Korea’s most important art movement of the late 20th century
South Korea’s National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) will very soon have a new director, but the local art community is protesting the top candidate for the position, Bartomeu Marí.
GWANGJU, South Korea — For the past several years, AA Bronson’s work has drawn on the acute awareness of radical pedagogies and alternative economies that he developed as a member of the Canadian artists collective General Idea.

Amongst international creative circles, it’s also known as the home of Asia’s oldest art biennale, the Gwangju Biennale.
