Visual Arts Thematic – On Other Archives
Application Deadline: May 6, 2026
Program Dates: November 2–December 4, 2026
Working with institutional, personal, fictional and/or speculative archives, participants are invited to think critically about the archive as a method or “technology” for re-storying social and cultural narratives. Themes may include but are not limited to familial/ancestral lineages and cultural inheritance, oral histories, micro-histories, absence, amnesia, and re-memory. Participants will engage in stimulating discussion and mentorship by leading faculty, artists Deanna Bowen and Krista Belle Stewart, and curator Tarah Hogue.
Visual Arts Thematic – Future Figurations
Application Deadline: June 3, 2026
Program Dates: January 25–February 26, 2027
Drawing on ideas of speculative futures, science fiction, myth-making, and world-building, artists are invited to research, imagine, and create possible selves and possible worlds, exploring concepts of embodied futurity.
In this program led by artist-faculty Rajni Perera and Marigold Santos, the concept of futurity is considered as an anti-oppressive and restorative force of hope and possibility. By decolonizing ideas of the body as defined by Eurocentric and heteronormative conditions, new possibilities of selfhood, agency, and self-reclamation are considered.
