‘Tis the season for art fairs, and for New Yorkers, this weekend brings yet another to the streets of Manhattan in the fall edition of Affordable Art Fair New York. This weekend’s fair, held in Chelsea, is one of several global editions held annually since Affordable Art Fair was founded in 1999. The price points for the contemporary paintings, sculptures, photographs, and prints on view will range from $100 to $10,000 and will be shown by 74 galleries from New York, South Korea, India, Russia, and elsewhere.
More than 400 artists will be featured at the fair, with thousands of pieces on view, as well as performances, educational talks, and themed exhibitions curating the massive assortment of work. Among those, the Young Talent Exhibition promises to be an accessible one to new fairgoers and will feature a wide range of ceramic work by students from Teachers College, Columbia University. Other highlighted options include a tour by the fair’s director Vanessa Seis and the curator and a shopping-oriented tour with the curator Laurie Carroll. We’d recommend downloading a map and wandering through a self-guided tour of the work. General admission to the fair costs $20, with performances and a handful of other events priced separately. For more information, including a list of the exhibitors that will be showing, visit the fair’s website.
