A View From the Easel
“There’s a lot of construction going on en route. Sometimes I capture the sounds.”
Welcome to the 357th installment of A View From the Easel, a series in which artists reflect on their workspace. This week, Chanika Svetvilas constructs a rainbow of plexiglas on chicken wire and plans community events for Disability Awareness Month in the United States.

Describe an average day in your studio.
In the morning, I take the Northeast Corridor line into New Brunswick from Princeton Junction and then it’s a seven-minute walk to my studio from the train station. (There’s a lot of construction going on en route. Sometimes I capture the sounds.) I am one of the eight Art City New Brunswick public artists-in-residence, a project of coLAB Arts.
