Readers of Hyperallergic are no stranger to artist Man Bartlett. The artist did a month-long residency in our space last year and more recently he has been involved with the Occupy Wall Street movement, sleeping in Zuccotti Park on a few occasions and exploring the issues being raised by OWS.

Today, we learned that he was arrested yesterday during the November 17 protests. We spoke to his father, artist Bo Bartlett, in Washington state who says that apparently Man Bartlett is not out of jail yet.

“We knew that he went to Occupy yesterday without his phone or camera. We looked for signs of him online yesterday. Several pics and videos showed him arms locked with others on the frontline. Finally, late last night a Scottish photographer, Scott Houston, emailed the arrest photos to us. We’ve heard nothing else,” Bo Bartlett said. “We are proud of Man and admire him for having the courage to stand for his convictions.”

Here is a short video of his presence on the frontlines:

And there are images of Man all around the internet, including in photos #4 and 16 in this series on Buzz Feed.

We will post updates as they become available.
