At New York Academy of Art, classical training drives contemporary innovation. Rooted in the study of the human figure, our community engages in critical dialogue, making work that resonates within today’s cultural landscape. Founded by artists, scholars, and patrons — including Andy Warhol — the Academy is where emerging artists refine their skills and expand the possibilities of figurative art.

Core to that mission are our Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and Certificate of Fine Art (CFA) programs, focused on drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Our curriculum combines intensive studio work with critical seminars, visiting lecturers, and professional engagement, helping artists master their craft and find their voice in today’s art world.

Located in Tribeca, the Academy lives at the center of New York’s gallery scene, offering invaluable experiences beyond the classroom. Students learn from teachers who actively exhibit nearby, participate in critiques that challenge their approach, and share work in shows connecting them to collectors, curators, and critics.

Academy graduates have exhibited in over 400 galleries, museums, and art fairs worldwide, and teach in some of the most respected art schools and museums. Our alumni community includes award-winning painters, sculptors, educators, and professionals who shape discourse around figurative and representational art.
