Jody Zellen, “News Wheel” (via newswheel.info)

With each passing week, the news spin seems to get increasingly out of hand, with mainstream news sources being labelled as fake news by the President while outright lies are touted as facts. The News Wheel, a new app designed by artist and writer Jody Zellen, gives literal form to this troubling phenomenon, as users can rearrange current headlines from nine print publications to create their own poetic narratives. An upcoming exhibition at Long Beach City College of Art, News Wheel, pairs her graphic interface with an audio installation by Daniel Rothman that combines the cacophony from eight news radio stations.

When: Opens Thursday, February 9, 7–8:30pm
Where: Long Beach City College Art Gallery (4901 East Carson St., Long Beach, California)
