In the summer of 2020, Sentient.Art.Film. hosted My Sight is Lined with Visions, a program of films from the Asian American independent and arthouse wave of the 1990s. Now the series is being brought back in an expanded form for 2021 — for an entire year, the new edition of My Sight is Lined with Visions will present a rotating lineup of experimental, often rare, works by Asian American filmmakers, along with essays by Asian American critics and commentators on the featured films, and videos of conversations with the directors.

Alongside many of the films featured in the 2020 lineup, the inaugural selection for the new program also includes Tran T. Kim-Trang’s The Blindness Series, eight films made over a decade on the theme of blindness, as well as Marlon Fuentes’s extraordinarily hard-to-find Bontoc Eulogy (1995), a satirical faux-docudrama about the “living exhibits” of Philippine people at the 1904 World’s Fair. In their press release announcing the relaunch of the series, curators Abby Sun and Keisha Knight write that “The series curation recognizes the history of community-based media arts organizations, such as the recent 40th anniversary of the Center for Asian American Media and current 50th anniversary of Visual Communications, as well as ongoing Asian American engagement with mischief-making, political acuity, and solidarity.”

Access to the full program can be purchased for 14 days for $20.50. All films are available to stream worldwide, without any geoblocking.
